UKC Biggame Walker Pups due in May - Northern CA
I'm gonna go ahead and place an add up here for my upcoming breeding. I have a LOT of interest, and a lot of my close friends are standing in line wanting one, as well as people that have hunted with either of the parents. But I want the ABSOLUTE best, hardest bear hunters to get these pups, I am wanting feedback, and opportunity for these pups to shine (though I love some of my friends, not all of them are the best homes)
This is a line breeding of cousins, that doubles on all the "Old Family Stuff." Almost a complete 3 Generation Pedigree (12 of 14 dogs) of topnotch California Beardogs, and many more Beardogs in the 4th - thru 8th Generations as well.
Kelly is a littermate sister to my late Crash dog. She has been one of our very best lead dogs the past three years. She is an OUTSTANDING strike/rig dog, this dog doesn't miss anything, the only dogs I've ever seen compare to her on the rig were her brother and Grandma. She is one of the fastest, agile, tough footed hounds I've ever hunted around, this dog can go, and go, and go, endurance to spare. Zero quit, all heart and drive. She runs to CATCH, and she does just that, very gritty. She is medium nosed, and can flat move a track. Lots of mouth on a good track, and she's got a HUGE screaming bawl on track. Loud nonstop chop on tree. She can take all the pressure you want to put on her, and stay there as long as it takes. She is extremely smart, but she can be sneaky and hard headed. She won't pass up a skunk, and if your not keeping a good watch on her, she's gone hunting, and isn't coming back - you'll have to go find her. Easy keeper, with one of the best temperaments you'll find. She's a small dog, 45 lbs and 19 inches at the shoulder.
Hunter is a very impressive 3 year old male owned by my Uncle, and was bred by me (out of Aspen) He is making his mark in the woods. He's doing everything right, from truck to tree. By next season this dog will be stepping up as my Uncle's lead dog. He's got a good nose, very fast on track, tight mouthed, will strike off the rig, and is an accurate, stay put tree dog. VERY gritty, and all the heart and drive you can ask for. Big screaming squall-bawl on track with a heavy steady chop on tree, only about 70-90 bpm. Smart, laid back, easy handling, easy keeper with a very good temperament. He's also a smaller framed athletic dog. 55 lbs and 21 inches at the shoulder.
All this said, I don't think they'll be much for Coon/Cat/Lion dogs. Kelly SUCKS as a coondog, I can't make her tree one. But she will smoke a fox and put it in a tree. Hunter is a nice coondog, but he's too tight on track to be anything more than a "pleasure" dog.

Kelly has been bred and I'm expecting the pups to be born around April 30 - May 5.

Re: UKC Biggame Walker Pups due in May - Northern CA
I had her ultrasounded today. We counted at least 6 puppies. Ultrasound isn't very reliable for counting, so there could be a lot more in there as easy to see and find as they were. I'll take xrays at 55 days for a final head count.

Re: UKC Biggame Walker Pups due in May - Northern CA
Yep, first time cross. The first and most likely last litter this female will have. She's a good dog, the only female left from her cross, and I want something off her. She's turning 6 already, and waiting at least 2 years to make up my mind on the pups from this cross before I'd even consider rebreeding her, that'd put her up at about 8 years old, and most likely too old for me to breed, if she's around that long.
I can ask whatever I want for my pups, and get it. I've actually only ever bred 2 litters. One in 2008, and one in 2010. Resulting in 9 total pups. This 2011 litter will be my third. I have a lot more people wanting puppies than I have pups. I total shots, papers, wormings, microchipping, ultrasound, xrays, DNA, food, stud fee, and my time into each pup, PLUS just the value of a well bred pup out of PROVEN parents. Doesn't even come close to covering my cost or raising, training, and hunting the parents all there life.

If you have so many people wanting pups then why did you even post this ad? If I remember correctly you had trouble getting rid of the last few dogs you had for sale. Why are you spending so much money on stuff like ultra sound, x-ray, micro chip, DNA?Redwood Coonhounds wrote: I have a lot more people wanting puppies than I have pups.
For $400 I could get a pup with a pedigree that will blow yours out of the water (pedigree speaking). Every time I read you posts I cant help but scratch my head a say Hmmmm!! The only big name dogs in these pups pedigree are six generations back. You do have beatiful dogs but good luck.

Re: UKC Biggame Walker Pups due in May - Northern CA
I've never had a problem selling any dog of mine. IF I wanted them to go to just anyone. Thats the difference, I won't sell to anyone. I always throw an add up so I can get a long list of potential buyers.
Proven parents. The parents have been on over 95+ bear, each, in the last three years. How many bears your dog treed Gary? Oh right, she still wont even stay at a tree, or locate to save her life.
Would you like me to start posting some pics from the past three years without Craig... Or all the pictures of game MY dogs treed even when I was with him, as he wouldn't know a good dog if it bit him in the ass.
Yep, all my crosess have been first time crosses. Because I'm not a puppy mill. I breed when I want to keep a pup, and I find two compareable game catching parents. I would have made a repeat of my first breeding, but the stud died. At least 6 of the 9 pups that've come from me are above average dogs. I only own one of those 9 pups. So if ya need some referances, I can give ya some numbers.
I've always shown dogs and hunted dogs. Still have Pit Bulls.
Yep, offering up a young stud, and he's advertised just as that. He was on over 35 bear at under 16 months old. Ate up by a rank bear couple times. Never missed a tree. Can start and strike his own track, and has a killer nose. I used him as my start dog for over 3 weeks of season while my female was in heat.
People get $400-600 on unpapered mutts, I'm not breeding for "big names" that don't mean a thing. Go ahead and pay $600 for a big name coondog pup if ya want one. They are everywhere. Also I will care for my dogs in the manner I see fit. Some people want to buy healthy pups, and not have to worry about all that stuff as it's already done. Again, if you don't want that, go look somewhere else.
Keep digging guys, or maybe you should be out hunting. Thats where I'll be.

(Redwoods quote from an other thread)
Like I said not "flashy" dogs, you want superfast, superhard hunting, super treedogs, or super cold nosed, you'll probably find it elsewhere. But your not going to find the BALANCE, HONESTY, ACCURACY, or SENSE these dogs have.
That was a direct quote from you on an other thread regarding your dogs. A little contradicting to what you said in this new thread.
How can you call a skunk trashing dog honest. You said they have sence then you call her sneaky and hard headed. What about balance and accuracy. If they were balanced and accurate they would be good coon and cat dogs. How accurate does a bear dog need to be. You said your dogs are NOT super fast, super hard hunting, or super tree dogs, and in this new thread thats exactly how you describe them. Like I already said Hmmmm!! You still want me to keep digging. I know you don't care what I think buy your long list of potential buyers might.

Re: UKC Biggame Walker Pups due in May - Northern CA
We're talking about two different litters, out of two different lines, cjohnson1178 . Kelly has never been a coondog. I described her just the way she is. Whats so hard to understand? Her and my Aspen dog are like black and white. Both good dogs in very different ways.
I don't pretend my dogs shit gold here, they are not the fastest, or the coldest nosed, or the grittiest ever. Anyone who thinks there isn't a hunter or dogs out there better needs to wake up. But when I breed you better believe that I want one of those pups, and I intend to IMPROVE upon what I have.
Gary, I don't need anyone to show my dogs game. They can do it alone. I have pictures, videos, and freinds that've gone hunting with me. I'm going to leave well enough alone, I don't need to prove anything to anyone.
So lets talk about Queen, who you brought to my house at what, 14, 15 months old to be bred to MY Joker dog whom you'd never hunted with and knew nothing about. You stood there and told me how Queen had only been walked into a couple bear trees on a leash, because you were too scared to get her hurt? I talked to your friends, and they said she might have been a decent dog if she was owned by someone that knew how to train or hunt a dog. Apparently thats correct, because at almost 3, you had to send her off to be trained by someone else.
I must know, do people just sit around wondering what I'm doing all the time? Do you work or hunt at all?
I think it boils down to the fact I'm about half as young, hunt twice as much, and know a whole lot more about dogs, and I'm a woman. Not sure where anyone gets I've only been around hounds 5 years... I'm a 4th gereration hound hunter. Rode around sleeping in a dog box, and was carried to trees back before you knew what a hound was.
