Post by bluetick1976 »

i forgot one basic thing in training i live out in the sticks so i have been training them out here without a lease they listen good but i beleive they will need to be leashed when problems aris. the problem is i put a leash on 1 and he flips out after a min or so so he will just stand there shaking hes scared to death of it.his brother did the same thing but after a bit it was no problem for him.i tried putting the leash on him in the house and he either takes off and hides or he stands the shaking tell i take it off.i tried food to help him but as soon as theres pull on the leash he blows up. am i going about this wrong should i keep going with what i am doing or does any one have ideas that might help thanks

I would bank they are not chain broke. Chain them up and walk away make sure they are chained where they can not get wound up or hurt but they will learn fairly fast do this for a few hours a day for a few days and your problem will be over. Andy

also make sure you start in the morning cause of the ruckus, and dont give into them they will work through it . make sure there collar is snug enough that it isnt slipped, but not chokeing. or they will always fight the chain in hopes of freedom.once they find out the chain is their master the same as you they will be alot easier to handle .once they are broke the collar can be loosened .

I put all my pups in about 3-5 feet of chain and make them drag it around at a young age. Seems to prevent some of these problems like backing out if thy are always pulling into the collar instead of away from it...then the chain and leash aren't a big shock.

dont think problem is solved just by chaining them up for some time, i believe you need to spend some time leading them around and getting used to you being in control some get used to it faster than others, use voice commands and reward for obeying, buy the book walk with wick to learn tons of info.
