in the right climate "very narrow window there" they do ok. I don't use them myself after trying them here and only getting three or four months use out of them for the price you can get a good "day glo" for a lot less and they last a year and a half to two here and a occasional collar may last longer. the color is a bonus to.

They will smell bad after a while as stated and the other dogs will chew on them. Dewey

I got the double stitched leather collars from night light. They seem pretty tough, and are holding up real well! Pretty fair on the price too. I don't have an issue with them smelling or rotting, but it's pretty dry here. If you get a lot of rain or wet snow you may want to avoid the leather.

Deweys right on the button dogs will eat them and pups eat them as fast as you put them on.

i had all mine in leather colors for the first month of our pursuit season last year and i really regreted it. they stunk got heavy in the rain and you may think i;m nuts but it seemed to have the effect of them getting hotter faster around the neck due to the weight and thickness.

I oil my leather collars before ever putting them on a dog and then when they look like they need it- baseball glove conditioner/neetsfoot oil/etc. It helps alot. Keystoneapul
