In Arizona, most of the units closed today for lion hunting and won't open back up until about the middle of August to coincide with the opening of the archery deer season. Go to the Arizona Game and Fish web site, and you can find the link for the hunting regulations. Scroll down in the hunting regulations until you get to the Mountain Lion section. There, it will show you all the units, dates, and harvest objectives. It will also show you what kind of license and tag are required. In my neck of the woods, units 18B south, 16A south, 15C, 15D, and part of 15B west remain open until the harvest objectives of lions are met. There are other units throughout Arizona which remain open until harvest objectives are met. You just have to check with the game and fish to determine of the harvest objectives have been met. Having talked with our local region three game and fish manager, the harvest objectives in our region have never been met. Pretty much any unit which has bighorn sheep has a harvest objective and remains open for lion. If I can help you more, let me know.
