TNbearhunter, why would you have liked to have been there and seen it for yourself? Kinda weird.

lol Eastenngator I was thinking the same thing. Who the hell let the guy get attacked by the bear like that and took up to the second pics everytime the bear moved. lol What a friend!!! Thanks for sharing.

Don't they usually use dogs, rubber bullets and noise makers when they release bears to instill the fear of man??

He looked to be on a tiny island with a really pissed bear!!

lol I'm sure he's the guy with the first aid kit. You would think they would have some sort of tranquilizer or weapon with them.

They do things a little different in Idaho!!! The bear trap is on wheels and they have a cable attached from the release door to the truck. All they do is jackknife the trailer, hook up the cable from the trap door to the truck and then pull forward. The door comes open and hopefully the bear comes out. I guess extra precautions are taken when re-locating grizzles!! I seen some pictures a few years ago when after releasing a bear it attacked the truck, chewing holes in the plate and almost tearing off the mirror. I don't remember if that one was a black or grizz.

Makes me think about how I'm going to release bear out of my trap. Last year I got signed up to trap nuisance bear for the DNR in my area. My trap is on wheels with a swing open style door.

I trapped for the PGC years ago. We used to use big rocks, 4x4 pieces of wood to level and get the culvert trap rock solid. Well I had a pretty big audience one day and the bear had knocked the culvert trap around after being caught so the rear of the trap was in the air a bit with the front resting on the hitch with the wheel axel as the pivot. I professionally and safely approached the trap and leaned forward against the door to visualize the size of the bear to prepare the tranquilizer and as soon as the bear saw me she charged the door shifting the weight in the cage tilting the whole thing towards me knocking me butt over tin cups backwards with about 30 witnesses!!! Very, very professional if I do say so myself. Paul Conway

I put two crank jacks on the back corners and then I have the tongue jack to stabilize the front. What do you use for bait, I'm planning on soaking a gunny sack in liquid smoke and honey. Do you put anything on the bottom of the culvert like sand or dirt or balsam bows.
