Well I took a guy hunting who just moved into my area. I have a 2 year old black an tan and a 7 year old black n tan that is kinda a family community dog lol. Anyways me and garret went straight for a canyon that I know holds a lot of cats and also had about an inch of fresh snow. It's a rough canyon though it has about 4 feet if snow in some areas right now. I stopped to check out 2 tracks that crossed the road, the first was a coon. I was showing garret what a coon track looked liked and nearly forgot to Check the other. When I walked back to it I was like oh Damn glad I came back. So we dumped the dogs on it. My 2 dogs xbox and abe took it and I drove up the canyon to find another track to run if this one didn't work out. Eventually I couldn't make it any further (35 year old sled!) So I turned back. Garret went further up, he met me back in the main canyon a little while later. The dogs were showing treed about a mile away, so we started to them. By the time we got close they were moving again. My younger dog xbox is great on track but does not locate very well. Abe is all around dependable. So xbox was leading the Chase only 30 yards off the road, I decided to make sure they were still on the cat. It took me about 15 minutes to climb up the steep hill side. I saw cat tracks, xbox was sniffing a tree then moved on just as abe blew by. I look up and 20 feet off the ground was the cat. I called in the dogs and garret. I left my camera and 22 at the sled do I had to wait for garret to bring them up. The cat was very restless so I had my 45 ready, I didn't want to shoot it with that obviosly but I also didn't want to watch it run away. After garret made the hill I snapped a picture and shot the cat. The rest is in the pictures I guess.
