? for you desert hunters in Nevada or southwest
I was just wondering how often you actually tree a cat or do you mostly ledge cats or bay on ground??? I have been hunting the canyons and desert and have found alot of cats, there is trees but seems like the cats dont want to tree.Wednesday caught one on rocks and trees were 2oo yards away and yesterday caught one in sage brush it thought it was treed but only 3ft up so dogs could still get it.. Do you end up shooting cats regularly just to save dogs from gettin hurt or killed????

Seems lie its about 50/50 whether they will bay or tree. We have killed a few more than we wanted to on bluffs. Its always good to take a guy who wants a lion in bluffs country

I am starting to change my hunting tactics so started hunting more canyons and desert and have found alot more cats and alot less people but out of 2 cats caught its been pretty crazy up close and personal. I have alot of respect now for you southwest hunters that dont have any trees. I definantly make sure some one has a tag when huntin the canyons but dont really like killin lions but really like my dogs

im new to this but it happened to us a while back and we did what we had to to save the dogs im still amazed what a ninety pound lion will do to a pack of seven dogs but the lion was in pretty bad shape as well and it wouldnt have been right to pull the dogs off and let her go in the shape she was in but it still doesnt make you feel good about it shit happens i guess
