Please help Owens dogboxes

Post by duke7581 »

I am really looking at the Owens Bear cat box but would like some feed back from someone else who owns one. I would like to see some pictures of the holes the only ones I see or the one with the doors shut. Also how are they in the heat/cold. I'm looking at getting one with the bottom storage please if anyone owns or has been around one let me know the good, bad and ugly! Thanks Jim

I have one, but not that model. They are fine for the money. They are lined with what looks like blue corrugated plastic cardboard for insulation. The dogs will chew on that if given the chance.

Bear/Cat Box- I have one of these boxes. I like mine alot. I have one for a small truck and it does have some size issues. I hunt dogs that are medium sized so 3 to a side, but some big hounds would really push it. The holes are plenty big for heads etc. Something else good is that is has a holder for the hole slides. Good box jmo.

I've got the bear/cat box really like it. Mine does not have storage. seems like it is going to hold up really well, only had it about a year. like the holes and how they close up. storage for the covers is handy also. the blue insulation type stuff will get chewed on eventually.

duke, can't help ya with the owens box. but i had a cooks k-9 clasic shipped here to az. they bought out the old houndsmen deluxe company if you can remember that far back.  mine is a two compartment with four holes for rigging and a rigging platform on top. only had it for five seasons, so really don't know about longevity yet but seems pretty tuff. if they are near as good as the houndsman deluxe i'll be happy, those son of a guns were tuffer than a pine not! and they are in marcalis michigan. the one i had lasted 12yrs. and than slept outside for 5yrs. as an extra dog house in a pinch. take care and good luck!
