I got through about 3 minutes of that, and about blew a gasket. Good thing I was not on the other line, I thought the USSA guy was doing a pretty good job of keeping his cool. A lot better than I could have done.

Thanks for posting that. Sadly it infuriated me beyond anything. I would do horrible in a debate like that because I wouldn't be able to maintain my composure. Its clear that if we are victorious with SB1221 we will later have to deal with a ballet initiative.

I would like to know where the HSUS conducted this pole to come up with the figures of 82% of California's population opposes hunting with hounds. I would bet that pole was done somewhere in the big cities where very few people even hunt and surely never used hounds.

I wish when he keep saying no hunting for bear with hounds in Was. & Oregon. The guy would of said yes they closed it down now they snare & kill everything they can.

Im glad the USSA is stepping in to help , but when Mr sexton said " Im not actualy a houndsman myself " I lost all hope for the debate. Im not putting him down for his choice of hunting techniques but if hes going to represent us he needs to be alot more prepared for such debates. I heard Mr pacelle say several times that we use "high tech gadgets" to track our dogs. Well heres some more useful facts; Telemetry was first used in 1845, then in 1930 Robert Bureau developed the first wireless telemetry that would measure distance. In the late 70s "tracking collars" were first used to find hunting dogs. Although size and the manufactures have changed over the years the technology has stayed the same. So calling a 30 year old technology high tech is a far cry from the truth. Can you imagine using a 30 year old computer in your office ?
Lion hunting was banned here because the HSUS spread false info to voters and that's what there gonna try to do here. Where they got 83% of people approve of banning hounds I have no idea but Mr Sexton should have called him out on that one.
Evert point they make in a debate like this needs to be countered. pacelle said "responsible hunters approve of this bill" , "traditions dosent matter", "there's no wildlife rational for it" and 'people aren't going to feed themselves by killing bears" all of witch went unanswered by Mr Sexton.

The best way to fight HSUS is to spread the word. Put signs up, spread the word at the grocery store or wherever you run into people. You have to remember though that people that support HSUS are ignorant and believe they are fighting animal cruelty. You have to explain it to people to where they understand. Pretend every person is an animal lover. I was at Zips getting cheeseburgers a couple months ago and they had a little plastic dog coin bank with a card in it for the local humane society. I told the cashier about the commercials we see on TV about the poor shivering puppy and "for only $19 dollars a month." I explained to her that HSUS is a for-profit organization and has no relation whatsoever to local animal shelters. HSUS is smart, they do a few dog raids ect. to give them an image of saving animals but their ultimate goal is to make the U.S. %100 vegan by stopping hunting and animal agriculture. They have stopped pig farming in Florida and chicken farming in California. Spread the word in ways the typical city dwelling person will understand.

I could be wrong but i believe i seen one time where they conducted the survey somewhere around the tahoe area. They disguised the questioning and reverted the answers into what they wanted to say after the fact. It was actually not a big number of people that were interviewed and surveyed and they count it as an average for the "rest of california". Not 100% sure but it is something i remember.

The Statistics is what bothers me 83% really? Statistics are all made to mislead in one direction or another. Statistics are a good way to lie and show "proof". They chose a certain control group and never questioned anybody outside of it. So in theory it is true but is not a good reflection of statewide. I dont know how they could even use a broad sweeping statement like that and think its true?

I agree 100%. It was unfortunate for him to say that at all, much less within his very first sentence.

Very true. Not being a houndsman put Sexton at an inherent disadvantage. I was on the line waiting for my turn with a rebuttal to each and every one of Pacelle's falsehoods, but the segment was cut short due their coverage of a fatal shooting on the 101 the previous night.

I feel for you guys in Cali. It sucks that he kept bringing up that we don't bear hunt with hounds in Montana, too bad he didn't argue the fact that we lion hunt with hounds. I could never keep my cool if I was in a discussion with an idiot from hsus! Once again I feel bad for you guys.
