i found a plott hound on speeddogs.net and it says it is good for finding dead deer.if i bought it i would bring i container of blood and lay a drag for it to see how good it is heres the discription.

4 yr old Plott Hound
Great hound for finding dead deer. This dog will trail, jump, and run by himself and loves to bay a wounded or dead deer. Lots of grit, but has good kennel manners. Hate to let him go but I have switched to beagles.$150 obo eastern NC

Along with the ocasional blood smeer,I think you would need to drag a deer hide along also, for the scent of the deer not just the blood.
