No more snow

Post by Drytrail »

The white stuff is almost gone over here in NV. We are looking forward to runnin cats closer to home in the dirt as we have been putting on the miles down south to get one up.Had a hell of a hunt a couple weeks ago the ended with my dogs ledged up bad and no lion to show.Headed out this weeked to try him again, just wondering if any one else is enjoying the dry stuff as much as I am?Are any of ya still given em hell in the dirt?I would also like to hear some pros and cons from you guys on snow hunting to bare ground likes and dislikes and mabey some of the advantages being able to hunt in the dirt there may be.Lets not take this one to the cage if we don't need to.
You have to catch em not chase em

I am with you Amigo. This is an excellent time to hunt. The top is stable still some moisture underneath, and if you can keep the wind down a little it is hard to beat.

I have nothing against snow or snow hunting and I was sure glad to see all of it this winter we are going to have some pretty good feed in the hills, but give me a good saddle animal and a pretty day and I am a happy guy.

It is so funny when you get these dogs so use to hunting with horses or mules. These hounds will go out in the pasture or the corrals with them when not hunting and will stand around them or lay beside them when they lay down. I don't know if they just get that bonded or if they are afraid I am going to saddle up and leave and they are going to miss me. LOL!
