Who hunts the Appalachian mountains

Post by easttntrapper »

I was wondering if anyone on here hunts bobcat in the appalachian mountains. I am trying to find some good dogs for this type of terrian.

I personally run curs. I have had pretty good luck the last few years with them. My dad runs plotts with similar results. As far as blood lines I have a busher bred male, a streak bred female and another female that is basically unknown. Funny she is my best dog. Dad has a redwood bred plott and a pocahontas bred plot.

Hey Dan, how was your season last year? Did you get on many cats?

Worst season yet. Only had five days of snow during our season. Ended up with 3 here and got a real nice tom in Kansas. Praying for more snow next season.

I hunt in NEPA. I run a running walker/treeing walker cross and a Nelson Cole bred treeing walker. Both get the job done well. I also have 8 newborn pups out of my rw/tw female and a Nelson Cole bred male.

Fellows,

A very nice Man, who has had Coon Hounds in his younger days (the fellow is now retired), lives in SW, WV and wants to get started Bobcat Hunting called yesterday and talked to Dad.

Dad liked him, and after just talking to him, so do I.

However we can not help him other than to refer him to here on BGH as the Country he Hunts is too different. He does not have a Computer so is limited to the Phone.

Would some of you all please call him and visit as he is trying to get started the right way!

His contact info is: Andy Mc Clure, 304-524-2963

Thanks!
