ok guys so im sure some of you have seen some of my little updates on my blue tick buddy.
he chases the house cats... and loves doing it he loves chewing on them and spends all of his free time out side looking for them. and has even started treeing them (only a couple times but still made my week) my question is how do i start him on bobcats and lions? when i take him out in the woods he runs off trailing this scent or that one but how do i know what he is trialing and how do i get him to committ to a trail. im just not sure how to get him to focus his attention on what he is supposed to chase.

I saw your intro and if i calculated right your dog is only about six months old, keep this in mind. Give him some time to mature and keep getting a good handle on him. One of the best ways to start a pup is with an older dog ,but not everone has one or can aford one. If you can find someone to run with I know it is hard not many people want to take on a new person and a pup but they are out there. If I was you I would make some real short drags with trainers or a drag in as much of a controled environment you can but dont over do it, just give him something to trail and tree and get praised for it eventually he should start trailing the right stuff to please you. Then dont forget trash breaking but give him time to figure out what is ok to trail before you get serious about that. Iam about a hour and a half from Kellogg just west of spokane I have a good old honest hound and a couple decent coon spots if you ever get up this way let me know.

sounds like a good deal if i get out that way i definatly will get ahold of you. from your discription of your location you sound pretty close to the the gentleman i bought my pup from. his name is mark. ring any bells?
