Cage trapping Mink and Weasel.
How many of you guys and gals out there cage trap mink and or weasel? Due to the state rules cage trapping them is my only option, I do think using wooden boxes with rat traps is ok also. I have been trapping for a few yrs now but when I lived down in the valley mink and weasel were to far away to go after. So this will be the first yr im going after them any help would be great thanks guys.

Iv never caught mink but I seen one by a pond with a lot of muskrats. Now weasels are a different story where ever there are chipmunks there will be weasels , there are mortel enemy's . You are right use wooden boxes with rat traps. Baited with beef liver. I used some stinky shredded up isulation out of a chipmunk nest too. Remember Brown weasels are worth nothing wait till they turn white after the chipmunks go to bed the weasels are active all winter hunting burning caleries staying warm

Can you use colony traps under the water in CA for mink if you can just make a bottom edge set with the colony trap bottom edges of bridges are good if it is legal.

Re: Cage trapping Mink and Weasel.
Tom thanks for the info. We have tons of Chipmunks up here so should be good numbers of Weasels to im hoping. Im going to make up a few doz. boxes this weekend do you know how large of a hole to use? Also what about trap placement in side the box? Should the beef liver be fresh or have some taint to it? Now when it comes time to set my boxes out do I set them down on the ground or up on branches?
JCR im not sure if we can or not we dont have many Muskrats up here so dont really go after them. Thanks for any help you can give on this Chris.
