HSUS Announces Attack on Michigan Sportsmen
Posted on January 24, 2013 by info@protecttheharvest.com
On Tuesday, Wayne Pacelle, CEO of the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), led a kick-off rally for Keep Michigan Wolves Protected (KMWP).
A recent news article by Tim Martin explained how KMWP is working to repeal a law that Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder signed off on in December 2012, giving the Michigan natural resource commission authority to address proper gray wolf population management. Tuesday’s press conference held in Lansing, MI was a plea from KMWP to the public for help in securing the 225,000 petition signatures needed by the end of March 2013.
Michigan United Conservation Clubs (MUCC) is organizing the opposition to the HSUS-backed initiative in Michigan. According to their website, MUCC “Works to accomplish its mission of Uniting Citizens to Conserve Michigan’s Natural Resources and Protect OUR Outdoor Heritage.” MUCC has proudly worked to protect its Michigan members from radical animal rights groups for over 70 years. They now face the next battle in HSUS’s effort to restrict hunting in Michigan, following the 2006 mourning dove hunting ban backed by HSUS.
A MUCC reporter captured Pacelle’s comments during the recent press conference:Here is what Tony Hansen, Chief Information Officer of MUCC, had to say about HSUS supporting Keep Michigan Wolves Protected:
“The Humane Society of the United States is just another out-of-state interest group trying to hijack Michigan’s ballot to push its radical animal rights agenda.”
In another video provided by MUCC, they answered questions about why proper gray wolf management and conservation efforts are needed in certain parts of Michigan. MUCC supports proper science-based evidence that allows the state natural resource commission to determine if a wolf hunt is necessary.
HSUS has created an emotional and baseless campaign that will mislead voters, threaten Michigan’s ecological balance and, ultimately, further restrict the freedoms of Michigan sportsmen. And we all know they won’t be happy to stop there…
“Our hope is if we can win here in Michigan, we can address the . . . killing of wolves in other states as well.” – Wayne Pacelle, MIRS News
Pacelle’s targets are set on a nationwide effort, and each local or statewide victory is simply another foothold from which he intends to spread his radical agenda.
