Question for you guys out west

Post by treetalkingjp »

My grandpas good friend recently became wealthy and bought a ton of acres in Montana I'm going out to visit next winter , I don't know any rules or regulations and idont know what states allow hunting with hounds . Can you hunt with dogs in Montana ? And what do you have to hunt . I know it's not like nc where u but license and go run them ? Or is it or can u even hunt it? Or do you draw tags . Any info would be good

its not the dog in the hunt, its the hunt in the dog

Montana is a big state where did he buy his acreage and how many acres?

Montana Hound Hunting.
Lion from Dec. 1 to April 15 if you buy a non resident lion tag you can run them anywhere in the state but to kill one in most western Montana areas you need to draw a permit and other areas its regulated by quotas. Regardless you can chase them most places in Montana if the kill season is open or not between Dec. 1 & Apr. 15
No Bear Hunting with hounds.
No non Resident Bobcat hunting
Coon and Coyotes aren't regulated and can be hunted year round.

Dont bother there arent any lions around these parts anymore. All of em are dead or hang out in Canada sometimes Idaho. Seems our squirrel population is going up so that might excite ya.

I Don't know what the one guy is talking about there is many parts of the state that have very great and stable lion populations. You just let me know where your family has there new ranch, Im sure that any of the hound hunters would love to come up and show you and your family some lions, write me a message and let me know.

Hahaha I just like getting a rise out of these fellas tight in the rear of their britches. You wont need anyones help cutting tracks especially if you have some private tied up. If theres any animals on the property like sheep, elk, deer theres lions and more than likely bobs too.
