opinions on e collar

Post by pat86323 »

I'm very new to hounds still, but j think I've got myself a winner of a dog. I need to get an e collar, all of a sudden she has decided that she's an elk chaser. The first 10 or so trips shed bark at them, but wouldn't chase them for any distance. I am a college student and would really prefer to not destroy my delicate finances. I'm looking at three different systems, the sport dog 2525, classic 70, and a trash breaker. Obviously a trash breaker is ultimately what id like tk have, but I can't seem to find one I can afford. Would anyone reccomend either of the other two? Anything else to consider? Should I just try to save up and get a trash breaker?

Give Buddy on this site (DU supplies) a call and talk with him. He may have something used or know of something that would work for you. Great guy to work with and straight. Can't beat Tritronics and take it from someone who learned on his own, buying cheap at the start is NOT going to save you money. Deal in quality and you won't have to replace junk. Good luck and when you get your ecollar use it correctly and don't ruin your dog. Give the dog time to wear and get used to the ecollar before you start shocking it.

Forget the classic 70
they do not have enough range to do the job if your dog should cross a hot elk at 1/4 mile...
