Curs on bobcats?
Been looking at these for adding a little speed to my bobcat hounds. Anyone on here running them, that could provide some info on the pros and cons

If Dan MacDonough is still on here, he had some beautiful curs he uses on cats.
Re: Curs on bobcats?
I owned hounds most of my life, but have kemmers now. the trick is finding the strain you want. they have a lot of traits that differ in each strain. for a cold nose, winding, drifting on track, look @ blondie and nugget blood. kemmerstock.com is a good place to start big Ronnie, turbodog and others will be glad to talk as the cur guys are eager to share the blood. good luck
no mater if you think you can or you think you cant,, you are probably rite.

Old dog, do you have any pics of your dogs. On average how big are they, I'm trying to get my dogs on the smaller size. The areas I mostly hunt I feel it is a great help, to me

Re: Curs on bobcats?
I hunt Leopards and my dogs are pretty houndy for the breed but keep the brainy side of the old curs. It's were I've setteled in for hunting bobcats. I used to hunt with a few dogs that had a huge amount of Gold Nugget x Blondie blood and the type of dog that Old Dog mentioned certainly can be found in that line. The line of Leopards I hunt produces a much higher percentage of those colder nosed dogs than what I found in the Kemmers though. The Leopards are more open on track though and have better voices.

Re: Curs on bobcats?
Been running my Mountain Curs for 6 years now on cats. I have had pretty decent success in this country.
Have one Busher dog, one smaller (40 lbs) female Streak and Thunder bred dog and one that is just back country non papered. All run similar to each other, wide open on a hot track and mostly silent to that point.

tradeslam, here is an old thread of 3 pages on the same topic. I did not read through it but noticed it and thought you might want to check it out: curs-for-bobcats-t10031-30.html

Re: Curs on bobcats?
David I read that thread a few times as well as everyone else I could find. I'm trying to get signed up in a few other Kemmer sights but its slow going. Been trying to find some good stock out west but its slow going from what little info I have. So if anyone has a line on some pups, PLEASE send me PM. I would love to not have to drive to the southeast, but if I have to thats what I'll end up doing.
If I didn't have a Mt Goat tag I would just make the drive. Worst case, I'll have to hold off until spring unless I tag out early with the goat and can save some of my vacation time.
Again I would like to thank the guys that took time to respond on this thread and the one I chatted on the phone with.

Re: Curs on bobcats?
Jed rarely posts on here, but you can try sending him a pm. or send Dan McDonough a pm to get Jeds number. Jed has as good of Leopard blood as anybody and he is right there in Colorado. He is an expert on the goats or anything else you might be hunting. He has helped other folks poke one with a sharp stick. He is as good a person as you could hope to meet down here on earth. Look him up. He might know the closest big game Kemmers, not sure about that. I can highly recommend his Leopards, however, and you might as well get one from some one you could actually go hunting with in the same type country you hunt. Ryan M. on here has the same blood and is in Western Nebraska. He might even have pups or youngsters right now.
