If you are new to hound hunting and new to this website take note.

Are they really hound men? I would bet no. I would also recommend researching any and all state laws where you live some have exemptions to give dog men a break, some don't. On the west coast them guys will hunt bobcat with a bull terrier then simply rush it into the nearest animal rights vet clinic to save there bacon when it gets hurt. That will get you locked up in some states.

I was not impressed with the wildlife board in this meeting. It is very apparent most on the board do not have a clue about cougars and don't really care to learn. The DWR is not a lot better. I don't know how many times I tried to explain we only wanted a female sub-quota on quota units. They only hear subquota and kept saying we were requesting it as a group on all tags including limited entry. I wish things would have gone better, but it didn't. As houndsmen it is very important to get involved as the entire cougar plan is being revamped for next year. Talk to your local biologists and voice your concerns. We are in an ugly battle right now, the wildlife board is quick to blame all the deer problems on the cougars still.

What a joke. Do you really think these folks will do anything different than what the DWR presents to them? What ever the DWR says must be true. These guys fudge numbers and different things every day and admit it in open meetings. I have been involved heavy for a few years now and I must say the one person on the board that was going to help us, threw us under the bus, not only last year, but again this year. I truly hope that the committee they are putting together are allowed to come up with a decent plan but we will shall see. The entire process from the RAC to the Board meeting is all political. Public pressure dictates what will be done especially with Cougars. If you think for one minute they are managing the Cougars properly you should study the present plan as well as the past plans and you will see.
Here is what I know for sure that if the Hound guys do not come together and stand strong as a large group which means more than a couple people showing up at these meetings we will be walked all over the top of. The troubles are coming Houndsmen wake up and get involved.
Thanks

The point I want to make here is that I believe that it is the job of the RAC and the Big Game Board to ensure that the DWR is properly managing the game including Cougars. This is not being done. These folks just seem to follow the recommendations Of the DWR however poor they are. Perhaps it is because they know nothing about it and are counting on the DWR to be honest with them. Now that my friends is funny. :D
