What a Great Day

Post by Gary Roberson »

Yesterday, Steve and I loaded the camera gear and drove to Justiceburg, TX to interview and visit with Riley Miller and great friend, J. Martin Bassinger. We had a blast, talking dogs and looking at old photographs and other artifacts. These youngsters have been hunting together since 1951 and have no plans to quit. Riley was kind enough to show us a new hunting cabin he built and we are making plans for a return trip when the weather cools off and see what the potlickers can do with the coons and bobcats along the Brazos River.
It was truly an honor and privilege to spend the day with such classy gentlemen that I consider legends of our great sport.
Adios,
Gary

Gary, i am a little jealous of your day with them lol. I have been talking with J Martin via the phone for the last 3 or 4 years and would really like to get down there and meet him and Riley in person and listen to their stories. Until then i guess the phone will have to do.

I am doubtful that there has ever been as much hound hunting experience sitting on one sofa before and maybe ever again as they are a dying breed. As I said, I consider it such an honor to be able to call them my friends and look forward to camping and hunting with them this winter.
I don't know anyone who has one unkind word to say about these gentlemen. True Texas Royalty at its best!
Adios,
Gary
