Astro GPS

Just recently got the Astro GPS and used 3 times runing dogs on coyote to get familuar with the system. Everytime after a hunt I load the tracks to mapsource, and then seem to have to re-calibrate and create a new dog to start a new hunt. I've tried to delete dog tracks from my GPS and also stop tracking, but it never resets so I am just re-calibrating the system to start a new hunt. If there is any one who has this GPS with more experience using it that may be able to tell me how to reset it without re-calibrating it, I'd love to hear your advice???

Are you going to the main menu and selecting "start new hunt"?

I just hit the menu button and I do not see the option "start new hunt?"
Am I entering the wrong menu, I've been playing around with it going into each sub menu and can not find this option? This thing is much more advanced then me, help me out here...

As soon as you turn it on, hit the "back" button, that'll take you to the main menu where the first choice is "start new hunt" then it'll say "clear previous hunt info" hit yes, then it'll ask you do you want to mark position of truck choose yes or no. after that, once your collars are communicating with the Astro you are good to go.

ok...I tried that and all that is happening is the dog compass appears, and if I hit the back button then the options listed are:
1. go to marked location
2.view sunrise/sunset
3.view hunting almanac
4. advanced

If I hit enter on the advanced menu, and then hit enter on settings, I find in that list "main menu" but there is no "start new hunt" or "clear previous hunt" from that main menu?

Do you think it might be a setting that is not set properly?

When you turn it on it will be on the dog tracking page. Hit the map button. Then hit the menu button twice. This will be the main menu and the first option is as previously stated to start a new hunt. I have found it helpful to wait until all collars are being tracked before starting a new hunt if you want the best download.

Hey Gutem, how did the Astro work for you in N.H. ? I was curious about the distance with the thick country and the mountains ?

Hey borderpond, where you from?
I get a good 8 mile range in Stixville NH, I lose signal from time to time in and out of ravines, but it picks back up in a matter of a couple minutes or so. So far I have no complaints, except for lfiguring out all the options it has. I've been using it coyote hunting and haven't lost a track at all. Can't wait to use it bear hunting. It certainly beats telemetry around here, where all I would get is bounce back off everything, I'd spend more time going in circles looking for my dogs!

Gutem, I live in southeastern N.H. You guys killing many coyotes this winter ? Plenty of snow thats for sure !

I've been out 3 times with a friend of mine and got a coyote every time.

I didnt realize you lived in rochester george. I worked in dover last year for about 4 months on the velcro expansion project. I would of stopped bye and said hi.
