sorry to hear that also I understand if you dont want to talk about it but was wondering if this happened in the sparwood area were they at the tree when it happened or still trailing did you know if they were in the area. Just trying to learn more to try and help prevent this from happening.
I wonder if a guy were to make a tape recording of thier hounds barking treed, if wolves might come in? That way you could get some really close up PICTURES.

Sorry to hear this cougarhound. I to lost a walker this year to wolves , but my black and tan got away with only a small hole in his hip. It sure takes the fun out of hounding for a while.

i have purchased some treble hooks that are used for gator fishing and 200 lb test , i will do what should have been done a long time ago with the wolves, and you poor houndsmen who have had these reintroduced into your area's kill them now before you have a major problem

Very sorry to hear of your loss Cougarhound, I can only imagine how you are feeling, We run bells on our hounds, I'm not sure if its the answer but have been lucky so far.
Last year I let my boys continue treeing for a good hour after I got to the tree, on the walk out we cut several Wolf tracks that had been circling us the whole time. Believe me my dogs know wolfs, when they smell them they become very concerned.
i have been wiped out i just have a young bluetick that is just started,i'll need to rebuild, and i also have bells on my dogs, the worst was my 13 year old son was there, all dogs were dead when i got there but my black&tan walker , he was ripped open bad and had to put him down on the spot, what a shitty year, and the season ended last day of feb,i've had the dogs bay up grizzley's with minor scratches this is horrible ...!

Cougarhound, thanks for the update on the fact that your hounds were wearing bells, I lost my best dog ever to a Lion in the Chilcotan country and my daughter and niece were both on there first cat hunt with me and my brother, the girls cryed all the way home, I feel for you man.
Are you in contact with Wes Macalister up the road from you, I'm sure Wes can help you out with a finished dog until you get your started dog going good.
