Owens DIY Dog Boxes

Post by Redwood Coonhounds »

Thought I'd share my new box. Was tired of my old full bed box leaking, and being so open and cold in the winter. Also the smaller the box the less dogs I'm tempted to have ;)

So I downgraded to this slide in box.

It took about 3 hours or so to cut and assemble. Then a day for the paint to dry.

I can fit 5 hounds in it. Simi-Comfortably, They can all sit, but it gets cramped when they all stand up and try and come out at once.

I put One huge dog (83#) two medium dogs (60-65#) and two small dogs (45-55#) I put the big dog and one medium dog on one side, and two small dogs and a medium dog on the other. Would work best for 4 medium/small dogs.

Weighs 110# complete.

goodlooking box. how much did the kit cost? how much was the shipping on the kit? look's like you did a good job putting it together.

I paid $230 with free shipping. That was the cheapest I could find them.

Another $100 for supplies; plywood, screws, paint, 2x2's, and caulking.

So I have about $330 into it. Had fun building it. It's light enough to switch it between trucks or just throw it out real quick if I need to.

The trickeist part was trimming down the aluminum for the back corner. On the kit for the small trucks the back peices are a few inches longer and have to be trimmed. Trying to trim it and file it down without messing it up and aking it too short to fit flush was a task. LOL. :joker
