Toyota Tacoma
I am looking at a Toyota Tacoma its the 2002 quad cab with the v-6 i was wondering if anybody was using them and what if any problems they were having? Its an automatic which is a turn off from the start but over all i think that they are a good rig i was just wondering how they were holding up?

havnt had a problem yet. knock on wood.
Re: Toyota Tacoma
Hounder, I have the exact truck that you are looking for. If I remember correctly you cannot get the crew cab in a stick, unless you found one that was special ordered. I was a little concerned about the automatic at first but it does just fine. Havent had any major issues, keep the oil changed and routine service maintenance. If you drive it 65 to 70 on highway it will get 20 to 21 mpg, once you pull off on the gravel 15 mpg. If at all possible get the TRD. You can then do a mod. to lock the rear diff in at 4-HI. Chained up and your going places.

Hounder ~ I have 155,000 on mine, and it runs like a champ! It's eqipped with a V6 and an Automatic. I wouldn't have another stick unless I had to.
What did they want for that quad cab that you were looking at over there?
Good Luck!

Re: Toyota Tacoma
Hounder, I wouldn't be to concerned about the miles. I have a 125 on mine and it's still running strong. Tell the seller that you want the toyota dealer to do an inspection on the truck and see if they think the vehicle is sound.
I would be more concerned about what lift kit is on the truck.
Really don't matter as long as it's a Toyota!
Good Luck.

Re: Toyota Tacoma
I have had the quad cabs and the extended cabs both in Toyota, they are both great trucks, but the quad cab will go through more snow - has more weight on the rear axle. Definatley get a TRD.
Nice box Rico - did the Huderites make that for ya??

Re: Toyota Tacoma
Hounder,
That Toyota Taco will take you really far. Don't worry about the mileage. You can beat a Toyota truck to death. At 155,00, with the 3.4 liter-5VZFE it's just getting broken in. Check out the Top Gear video on YouTube, called "Death of a Hilux". I've owned nothing but Toyota 4WD's, and have beaten them to death--and they still run!!
Do have it checked out at the dealer, but otherwise, happy driving!
