All my dogs wear them during the day because of the neighborhood that I live in. My dogs can tell the difference between the shock and bark collar and I have NO problem with them out hunting. I have the cheaper PetSafe ones.. They work on 3 out of 5 dogs. One still does quite a bit of loud whining. But he won't actually bark, the other is just a hard headed old boy and will bark. He wears a tri-tronics one and that keep him quiet. Even the two hard headed ones won't just bark to bark with the cheaper collars on, but will still bark when I come home or someone else drives up. So they have stopped any nuisance barking..

I have 2 petsafe ones as well. The ones that I use have a built in feature that starts out low and works its way up the more they bark. So the one or two barks at someone walking by doesn't really zap, but the continual nusaince barking. As for ruining the dogs I have not had that problem yet. I have two 11 month olds that will rig and have for the last couple of months even with the training collars on.

no-bark
Taz...I use the Tri tronics Bark Limiter. It has 5 level of intensity...just push the button and set it. When you shut it off it cycles through and will blink once for each time it shocked your dog for barking. So, you know what your dog did while you were away. Battery last months. You can easily replace the battery yourself...and they can be bought locally at stores carrying lithium camera batteries. Price ranges from $6 to $8. These collars are small and very compact. If left on a dog over 24 hour without a break they can develop sore spots where the contacts rub the dog's neck.

I have the innotek one that cabelas sells for 39.99. I have had them for over a year and all I've done is replaced batteries in 2 of them. I have 5 of them and they work quite well. One 8 month old I have will on occasion bark until it gets to the higher level of intensity. Then she'll shut up. The rest don't like even the lowest levels.

Have had several... ... an ino-tec... with repalceable batteries... throwed it away... had one that was yellow and about as big around as a banana... throwed it away..
have 2 tri-tronics bark limiters. and still have one off brand... it works on tinder hided dogs but not on a tough ol hound.. I would sure get the Tri Tronics as they have a replaceable battery and they do get their attention
yes you will pay about $100 for one buy they work.

Bearkillers got it right.Save yourself some money and buy the innotek.I have three that I have owned for a couple of years and they have worked flawlessly the whole time.I had two Tritronics collars and they both took a dump, one after 6 months of use and the other at about 8 months.I called Tritronics and they said they would fix them for $60 a piece. No thanks.I'll stick with the Innotek.
