i can talk long distances but cant receive the people talkin to me anybody help me

sounds like the problems on the other end. They dont have enough wattage or some other problem to transmit to you. Is this even at very close range?

Sounds to me like you got an antenna problem. i would fix it before talking on it anymore! you will just damage it . Not the best way to tune it, but hit the weather channels. You should be able to pic up a few of them at worst even if the got static. On the worst of days for reception you should still at least be able to hear 5 of them!

onemore thing you can check is your squelch setting that radio has two different controls one internal and the external dial if the internal is turned up too far your dial is useless cant remember off the top of my head how to check it but your instruction manual should say
i would check my anenna first tho like steve w. said so your not damaging your radio... good luck

at close range i cantalkout i got both the sqeulchs set low so guess will try an different antenna
