I feed diamond 24/20 high energy! Even during hunting season when we run'm hard they don't lose down to nothing! Plus its real good on their digestive system and promotes good skin and coat health! Less waste to clean up means the dogs digestive system is out of balance! I have fed pride black gold purina pmi and my dogs do the best on diamond!

I feed Hi standard 26/18 $22 for a 50lb bag. Dogs have plenty to go energy and then some. They crap less. And the dogs love it. I tried black gold didn't like it much at all. Also tried Hunters edge by akrat. Dogs wouldn't keep weight on like they should. Not tryin to knock other dog foods this is just my experience. JMO
Re: what brand of dog food do you feed?
i currently feed enhance hunters edge 24-18 it is ok but i prefer the hi-standard or diamond naturals pro athlete. however my out of the way location limits me from getting the best...

Re: what brand of dog food do you feed?
Currently feeding Hi-Standard 24/20, but have feed lots of Black Gold both 24/20 and 26/18. I like the 24/20 better, I have problems keeping the weight on my dogs with the 26/18 when I'm hunting 6-7 days a week. the hi-standard seems to be very comparable to the black gold.
Re: what brand of dog food do you feed?
I feel poor compared to what you guys buy. I usually get Iams. If that ain't at the store I get Purina or Eukanuba.

i used to use iams and eukauba good stuff but it will break your wallet if your feeding more than one dog.

Re: what brand of dog food do you feed?
I feel kinda dumb after reading what you guys pay for food. I'm paying around a $1 per pound. I'm feeding Exclusive. I feed the Chicken and Rice during the off season and during cat season I feed the Performance blend. The Rice and Chicken is 26/16 and the performance is 30/20. How much do you feed every day? I only feed around 2.5 cups for a 60-70 lb dog. Like everyone said, no cleanup and the dogs are in great shape.

Taste of the Wild- High Prairie (32/18)....So far so good! Used to feed them Timberwolf but felt that the ingredients in TW weren't consistetent. We get a discount due to volume.
Cheers!

Re: what brand of dog food do you feed?
i have learned that the best way to save on dog food is the continous food plan, meaning keep all they can eat in front of them allday every day. sounds crazy but it really works here is how. when you feed once or twice a day your dog tends to gobble up all they get and go hungry until tomorrow where they do it all over again. if they constanly have food they do not get in a rush to eat so they nibble all day long. this does two things for them one they keep a smaller amount of food in there stomach at one time wich allows them to digest it better, there body can only absord so many nutrients at one time. when eating a big meal all the extra ingridients wind up on the ground in a stinking mess if you know what i mean.. secondly the smaller amounts they nibble on through out the day over time leave there stomach smaller making them feeling satisfied with there food intake as to one or two larger meals expand the gut more making then hungrier faster. i know it sounds crazy but it really work now dont get me wrong for a few days they will eat alot not being used to a constant supply of food but it will gradually drop off to amazingly small amounts and they stay looking great cause there getting more out of what they do eat. the key is DO NOT EVER LET THEM RUN OUT OF FOOD or you will be starting over. 25lb automatic feeders work great for this. i have been able to get fifty pounds of food to feed nine hounds for well over a week and even longer in the peak of summer heat. any ways sorry to ramble on just wanted to share something i learned while studying animal nutrition...
p.s. through in a few butcher scraps to top it off and your bank account will thank you..

Re: what brand of dog food do you feed?
Guys- here is something that I found laying on the counter at my local feed store. It's called Sarah's dog food grading method. On the website that I copied it from they mention that it is not an exact science, but a valid place to start. I ran the two different types of food I feed my dogs and the Exclusive Performance scores a 96 and the Red Flannel Prime scores a 78 I think. I just did the Exclusive puppy food and it scored a 99.
Dog Food Analysis & Grading
To grade any dog food using Sarahs' dog food comparisons technique, you need to start with the list of ingredients (it's fairly easy to find an ingredient list for any particular food on the manufacturers website, or use the one on your dog food bag etc.)
Start with a grade of 100 points, then …
1.For every listing of "by-product", subtract 10 points
2.For every non-specific animal source ("meat" or "poultry", meat, meal or fat) reference, subtract 10 points
3.If the food contains BHA, BHT, or ethoxyquin, subtract 10 points
4.For every grain "mill run" or non-specific grain source subtract 5 points. If the same grain ingredient is used 2 or more times in the first five ingredients (i.e. "ground brown rice", "brewer's rice", "rice flour" are all the same grain), subtract 5 points
5.If the protein sources are not meat meal and there are less than 2 meats in the top 3 ingredients, subtract 3 points
6.If it contains any artificial colorants, subtract 3 points
7.If it contains ground corn or whole grain corn, subtract 3 points
8.If corn is listed in the top 5 ingredients, subtract 2 more points
9.If the food contains any animal fat other than fish oil, subtract 2 points
10.If lamb is the only animal protein source (unless your dog is allergic to other protein sources), subtract 2 points
11.If it contains soy or soybeans, subtract 2 points
12.If it contains wheat (unless you know that your dog isn't allergic to wheat), subtract 2 points
13.If it contains beef (unless you know that your dog isn't allergic to beef), subtract 1 point
14.If it contains salt, subtract 1 point
Extra Credit:
•If any of the meat sources are organic, add 5 points
•If the food is endorsed by any major breed group or nutritionist, add 5 points
•If the food is baked not extruded, add 5 points
•If the food contains probiotics, add 3 points
•If the food contains fruit, add 3 points
•If the food contains vegetables (NOT corn or other grains), add 3 points
•If the animal sources are hormone-free and antibiotic-free, add 2 points
•If the food contains barley, add 2 points
•If the food contains flax seed oil (not just the seeds), add 2 points
•If the food contains oats or oatmeal, add 1 point
•If the food contains sunflower oil, add 1 point
•For every different specific animal protein source (other than the first one; count "chicken" and "chicken meal" as only one protein source, but "chicken" and "fish" as 2 different sources), add 1 point
•If it contains glucosamine and chondroitin, add 1 point
•If the vegetables have been tested for pesticides and are pesticide-free, add 1 point
Scoring
94-100+ = A
86-93 = B
78-85 = C
70-77 = D
69 = F
I agree that this is not an exact thing, but it may be a viable way to compare different brands and types of food. Whatcha think?

Interesting, but the adding 5 points for organic creates an unfair evaulation to me personally.
