Re: difference between horses and mules
ya 100%....i've heard it before but was a bit skeptical so i tried it out about 6yrs ago. Packed into one of my top camps for a 8 day mountain goat hunt had 5 mules and 1 mare and the weather was bad. So bad that we were grounded to the cabin about 6" of fresh snow and fog. If there was ever a time ...

Re: difference between horses and mules
tough to add anything to big mike's post that about sums it up...another huge advantage to the mules is how easy it is to look after them in the mountains. Just have 1 mare with you and babysit her and turn the mules loose. I have a guiding operation in British Columbia and run 13 mules and 9 horses ...

Re: Who catches every time
thats where the game changes......Lynx are the exception. You can turn out 7 times and tree 7 and think you and your dogs have it figured. The next 7 times you can come up empty....snow conditions are always a factor as well. It seems when a lynx wants to tree he will but if he doesnt your done ...

Re: Who catches every time

I had decent success could catch most cats and ran around 60% on bear and i thought this was "normal" until i ...

Re: Your best 6 against my best 6 in mn.
I usually cruise this site and get a good chuckle, but because my name was thrown in i thought i should respond. In Eric Muff's defense i will explain a little further what he was getting at.....I am an outfitter in British Columbia and get to hunt the dogs alot which makes it easier to get a good ...

Re: Horse vs Mule
I have been outfitting in British Columbia 20+ years and have a string of 25 animals. 14 mules and 11 horses. Good qualities in both but definitely prefer the mule for safe mountain travel. Only buy a mule from a quality breeder someone who has real nice mares....mine all come from Kentucky. A well ...
