Re: Marshall vs Johnson
Marshalls for me for several reasons, but mainly because there is less weight and bulk on the dog's neck.

Re: alpha battery
I have a spare battery, but have never had to use it, but 10 hours is about the longest I have ever had to use it. I actually alternate them from one hunt to the next to make sure both are always working properly. And, I'm pretty sure lithium batteries, which is what the alpha has, don't have a ...

Re: Best telemetry out there?????
I have used, or seen used, about everything out there. For me Marshall is the best, hands down, for a lot of reasons. I have a Yaesu VR-500 receiver and it will track any frequency, but, they are not manufactured anymore. A shame because it has worked very well for many years. Back before we went to ...

Tracking TT15, TT10, and TT5
I think you probably can, BUT, just to make sure.......can you track TT15, TT10, and TT5 collars on the same Alpha receiver at the same time?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Birdseye
32 gb should work, mine does. I note a difference in the wording for enabling the Birdseye map between your astro and mine. Probably just a difference in manufacturing date or update status. Sorry, but you may have to call Garmin unless someone else on here with more knowledge about these things can ...

What size SD card you using? 320 is not compatible with anything over 32GB.

Re: Telemetry comparison
I can tell you that you won't be changing batteries every other day with Marshall collars. I don't keep real close track on my hunting time, but, I know I make well over 50 hunts on one set of batteries. At least 5-6 hundred hours, probably a little more. One magnet, turn every collar on or off ...

Re: Garmin Dc 50
I had this same problem with a couple of my DC 50's. New out of the box they would lose signal with the dog in sight, less than 100 yards. Then pick back up and lose again. I updated them and have had no more trouble. I can only assume they had been sitting on the dealer's shelf quite a while and ...

Re: Best tracking collar
Spend your money on a Garmin first, by far the best system out there. I know some have had issues with them, but I think most will tell you it's the only way to go. I have a 320 with dc 30 and dc40 collars and it has worked great. Birds Eye subscription is money well spent. I don't have any first ...

Re: Size of Micro SD chip
First off I'm pretty sure you have a 4 gigabyte card and not 4 megabytes. This technology stuff keeps me confused most of the time too, but you won't get much done with 4 megs. Not trying to be a smart___, but just making sure we are on the same page here. There are 1024 megabytes in 1 gigabyte. The ...

DC 30 problem
Was hunting yesterday and was tracking one of my dogs just fine when I lost signal on her. She was less than 400 yards from me, but a ? come up on the screen of the astro and last distance and direction locked in. Luckily I had a telemetry collar on her too and tracked her down without much problem ...

Re: Replacement Collar Straps
I do the same thing as wiwalkerman, that is cut the buckle end of the garmin collar off close to the sending unit and the other end off on the oppisite end of the gps antenna. I use a soldering iron to seal the cuts. Then make holes for the sending unit, take the metal plate off the back, put your ...

Re: Stopping a running hog!!!!
In my experience what you have said is pretty much how I think things usually have gone down. When we bust and scatter a bunch, or a bayed hog breaks, we have pretty good luck (but not 100%) catching and stopping the smaller pigs, (150 or less), but the big boys can be a problem, especially if they ...
