Re: Cur dog V.S. Bulldog

Jim is a good guy, with some good dogs - if a pup went in that hog pen at 8 weeks, it went in there on its own. There has been one other one that I heard do that same thing, he was a little super star.
Catcher - my pup that I got from Jim just turned 8 months old - she found her first hog by herself ...

Re: Kevlar. Layered or Layer?

I googled your question, theres alot of stuff on the internet about Kevlar - but I cant find anything about that - hahaha
I would think 2 layers of anything would be better then one layer, blunt trauma will be dampened by another layer too, thats why some vests have a layer of felt or something else ...

Re: Kevlar. Layered or Layer?

She is a friend of mine - I have 2 collars she made for me, she does awsome work too. I dont use vests on my dogo's only because it seems to slow them down - I have them just never use them. I know plenty of people who have her vests and their dogs have been on multiple big hogs and the vest hold up ...

Re: New dogo Advice

Shes nice! You can try her out on a shoat to see how she does, but halfbreed is right - dont let her catch anything big until she's older so her adult teeth can set in. Start working her nose now and she should be good at 1 year. We call my female " the nose " started her when she was about 4 months ...

Re: New dogo Advice

Nice! Good luck with her, whats her pedigree? and or kennel her parents came from?

Some dogo's have splayed out feet, supposed to be nice and tight - I hear you can tighten them up by putting a good layer of pea gravel in their kennel, or run them on soft sugar sand/beach type sand ( if thats what ...

Re: New dogo Advice

I dont know, Ive seen some linebred/inbred dogos that were almost perfect as dogo's go. The breed is still fairly young, so sometime I think a little more of it would do some good, depends on the dogs though.

Re: New dogo Advice

I dont know if its jaw strength, maybe more of a leverage thing because of the length and where they are holding at or a bad bite. Alot of those dogs seem like jaw or snout catchers. Ive even heard of a few that got their k9's knocked out from being beat against a tree by a hog. I realy dont think ...
