Took the pup to the vet today and it was cherry eye. I'm going to have them cut it out. She is a 100% Cameron bluetick would that close of breeding caused it?

I have a 5 month old pup that has developed Cherry Eye. Can anyone tell me if this is a common problem in hounds, and will it affect her for the rest of her life? I have an appointment at the vet, after surgery is it likely to happen again?

Should a hot wire be put around the bottom and/or tops of kennels to keep your dogs from digging out and/or climbing out?
