Is there anyone out there raising any BIG old school type of BIG GAME hounds? Im talkin the 90 pounders and up type with cold noses and voices that seem to rattle the mountains! Im gonna start looking at getting a pup or two to add in and this is what im lookin for! If you know of any please shoot me a pm. Thanks

Just go on the breeds column and pick up his thread and e-mail on this forum he is on it daily. He is a no BS guy and if you go hunting with him you better wear comfortable boots and pack a big lunch. He is more at home up in them high peaks than a mountain billy. LOL!

AWESOME HOUNDS! And I do mean hounds!!!

I guess its just the way they look and sound mainly! I like a dog that will work a cold track slower and steadier as opposed to one that tries to do everything 100 miles an hour and is making loses none stop. I realize thats not related to "size" as much but thats what im after. I love the dogs I have now and there giving me my start but I wanna work towards having a pack of big long eared bawl mouthed lion hounds someday!!! :beer
P.s. I like the way they can wade through the 4 feet of snow we have up here sometimes Lol!

A big old, heavy hound may well be more likely to fall through a four foot snow than a lighter hound, plus a lighter hound is cheaper to feed and may be easier on foot wear than a dog packing weight. Those are just a few things to think about while building a pack of hounds. However, if a guy likes the long eared bawl type hounds then that is what is gonna make him happy................

Good luck,
ike

Riley Miller has some of the biggest hounds I've ever seen. They leave piles most dogs can't jump over.

No but seriousy I know what you mean, it seems though alot more often then not, none of the dogs are staying on top of it round here......I just want some that won't get high centered if they hit an aunt hill
