Im keeping the tracker. Ive heard down side's to GPS lately too, well at least it's a start, better than waht I had before nothing. I will practice, and hopefully have good luck. By the way Gary from West coast telemetry is awesome to deal with! Very knowledgeable.

Just keep the gain down like said before. And get up high if you can. Power lines seem to be the killers for me. Really throws you off if you done do the triangle method.

That helps a lot. Another thing that helps with bounce is to hold the unit at about chest height and let your body block the signal from behind you. I too had to relearn telemetry tracking after buying the tracker. They are much more sensitive than a lot of other units out there. Which is good and bad as we all know.

I normally run both systems on my dogs, but if I could only run one I would pick telemetry without hesitation. GPS is great, but when it fails it's a nightmare. Not to mention the collars only last for nineteen hours or so, where you get thousands of hours out of a telemetry collar.

the tracker style systems are one of the most handy to carry of the telemetry systems ,but the bigger systems are far superior in range and pinpointing direction there just a pain to lug in the field.a garmin is far superior used within its limitations ,but hounding exceeds its limitations like range ,and collar charge which can be troublesome.i run both . when it comes to bounce your gut instinct is usually right if you listen to it .also by knowing game habits ,your dogs ,and the lay of the land . my advice is to hunt sometime with someone who has a garmin if you can .it will open your eyes i think. i wouldnt want to run without one now.the telemetry is just in case they get out of range or exceed the battery charge on the collars.

well said i got me a garmin my hunting buddy uses the tri tronix system that one sucks cant get a signal on his dog.with Garmin i know where my dog is all the time the Garmin astro 220 system bought a dc 30 collar to go with it love its set it for 36 hours of battery life on it tracks up too 7 miles im in to that about $ 650 bucks with the new collar go go with it .... Garmin all the way for me ...

my buddies have got the garmins I have the quicktrack .I like the garmin becuase you can tell if a dog is siiting still or not and how far out they are . BUT it will drop signal and does not have the range a quicktrack does . I personally like the garmin as long as the dog has on a quicktrack collar also . If I had to choose one or the other it would defintely be a quicktrack
